SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)
PSHE & C lessons have been part of the National Curriculum for some years now. This stands for Personal, Health and Social Education, and Citizenship.
More recently, Bishop Wood, in common with many other local schools, has chosen to deliver the majority of these lessons through the SEAL programme. This stands for Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning.
There are 7 themes within the programme:
- New beginnings
- Say no to bullying
- Getting on and falling out
- Going for goals!
- Good to be me
Each theme is introduced by a member of staff in an assembly at the beginning of each half term; this then becomes the focus of the weekly half hour PHSE & C lesson for that half term, and may form part of the class assembly if the class are presenting one at that time.
