The Pupil Premium Grant is an allocation of additional funding from the Government to support specific groups of children. Schools decide how best to use this grant as they are best placed to asses what additional provision should be made.
Children who have ever been in local authority care and children who have parents in the armed forces will qualify for pupil premium together with those children who have qualified for free school meals at any time in the last 6 years.
Recently premium grant has been used for:
- Early intervention for targeted pupils
- One to One Tuition for vulnerable children
- Booster provision to accelerate progress in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Delivering intervention groups and precision teaching (national and customised) targeted to meet pupil needs as identified by the ongoing assessment and tracking of pupil progress and achievement.
Additional provision might also be free club places, financial support for trips or cycle training.
