From time to time children are taken on school trips.  You will be informed of any proposed visits and asked to give your permission for your child to leave the school premises on the Annual Consent form completed in September.

If the visit involves a coach journey you will be asked to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of the trip.

For all outings, there must be the correct ratio of adults to children, and parents may on occasions be asked to help out.  All parents who participate in these activities must have a DBS check.

Educational Visits
We organise a number of trips throughout the year for different year groups.

  • Year 3 children visit the Natural History Museum in Tring
  • Year 5 children visit Hazard Alley in the Spring term
  • Year 5 children visit College Lake in the Summer term
  • Year 6 children visit Tring School as part of the Work Shadowing programme

  Residential Trips
During the Summer term Year 4 pupils participate in a 3 day residential stay at Cuffley Camp near Potters Bar.  Children in Year 6 are offered an educational study tour trip lasting five days, to Swanage in Dorset.  Full details of these trips will be given to you at meetings held for that purpose. Copies of correspondence regarding these trips can be found on the Class or Year Group pages.

Enrichment Activities and Visits
Bishop Wood school children take part in many sports tournaments and music events. These tend to be after school or at the weekends but in the run up to Christmas, for example, the Choir sing carols at a local care home and supermarket during the school day.
