Science
At Bishop Wood, our intent is to:
- Provide a high-quality, broad and balanced science education
- Secure and extend scientific knowledge
- Develop working scientifically skills that are built on progressively between lower Key Stage 2 and upper Key Stage 2
- Promote a love of science and inspire pupils to consider a future career in science
We encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their time at Bishop Wood. The science curriculum fosters a healthy curiosity in children about the world around them and promotes respect for all things. Throughout the programmes of study, children will acquire and develop the key knowledge that has been identified within each unit and across each year group, as well as the application of scientific skills. We ensure that the working scientifically skills are built on and developed so that children can apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, conducting experiments, building arguments and explaining concepts confidently. We want them to continue to ask questions and be curious about their world long after they have left our care.
