AI Statement

At Bishop Wood Junior School, we recognise that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly important part of modern life and education. We are committed to ensuring that any use of AI within our school is safe, ethical, purposeful and aligned with the best interests of our pupils.

AI tools may be used by staff to support planning, administration, communication and the development of teaching resources. However, all professional decisions remain the responsibility of school staff, and any materials produced using AI are reviewed carefully to ensure they are accurate, appropriate and meet the needs of our pupils.

Pupils may, where appropriate, be introduced to age-appropriate discussions and activities linked to AI in order to develop digital literacy, critical thinking and an understanding of emerging technologies. Any pupil use of AI will be supervised and consistent with our safeguarding, online safety and acceptable use policies.

The school does not use AI to make automated decisions about pupils. We remain fully committed to protecting personal data and ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and data protection legislation.

As technology continues to evolve, we will continue to review our approach to AI to ensure that it supports high-quality education whilst maintaining safeguarding, transparency and responsible use.
