Remote Education

At Bishop Wood C of E Junior School, we believe that attending school in person is the best way for children to learn, develop and thrive. Remote education is only used when attendance at school is not possible, or when school access is restricted due to exceptional circumstances.

Where remote education is required, we will provide learning that is aligned as closely as possible to the curriculum being taught in school. This helps pupils to continue their learning and maintain contact with their teachers and classmates.

When Remote Education May Be Provided

Remote education may be used:

  • During a school closure or restriction on attendance caused by exceptional circumstances.
  • When an individual pupil is unable to attend school for a short period but is well enough to learn.

Our Approach

Where remote learning is required, pupils will:

  • Receive work that follows the curriculum being taught in school wherever possible.
  • Be provided with clear instructions and resources through our agreed online learning platform - Google Classroom.
  • Receive appropriate feedback and support from school staff.
  • Be offered reasonable adjustments where needed, including support for pupils with SEND.

Access to Learning

If a family experiences difficulties accessing remote learning, including access to devices or the internet, please contact the school office. We will work with families to ensure pupils can continue their education wherever possible.

For further information about our remote education arrangements, please contact the school office.
